That Week

You know when you sometimes have that week. That week over lets say 15/20 weeks where you really struggle with yourself? In every single aspect. When it all comes crashing down.

And you think. What is the point?

Its happening right now. I like to think I know the remedy. I want to accept it. But I just don't feel like doing jack all.

It's happening again. I have so much to say but I struggle to write. Time.

  1. SubhanAllah. I feel your pain.

Chin up. Get your five daily prayers done. Push yourself if they are proving to be a burden. This life is all about the struggle. That's the blessing. If life is sailing along smoothly...then something is rather amiss. Like Sh. Hamza Yusuf once said, (and I paraphrase) our biggest struggle is not to fall asleep. So, not to be aware. Not to notice.

You're aware. You've noticed something isn't quite right. Alhamdulillah. You've been blessed more than most. :)

  2. Agreed. Stick to your basics and be firm in those and persevere in that. And don't let the feelings - no matter how negative they are - make you neglect those fard acts. Remember that success in the deen is NOT about 'feeling' spiritually high...it's about following the sunnah as best you can - even if it doesn't feel spiritual at times.

Besides - you know that life is a continuous cycle of ups and downs. Things are bound to pick up again, insha-Allah.

  3. Redberries - Jazakallah Khair for the reminder. True say.

Alhamdulillah, I've always been firm in salah but it's just the difference is kushu is alarming. I know a lot of people go through this and cycle of being bleh, human I guess.

  5. Go back to basics. What makes you feel alive? Then do those things you enjoy and build up from there. I know everyone talks about focussing on religion but as well as that you need to look at other things you enjoy. Things like reading and even running dude! The only thing keeping me sane at the mo.

Set yourself short term goals. Don't stop working like you said before as that will make the problem worse. Too much free time = too much time to think = downward spiral...

PS everyone has one of "those" weeks. Just smile - it releases endorphins:)

  6. SI - That's pretty much what I've been doing. I kind of overdid the whole training thing, body is dead!

Ooooh yes, the happy chemicals - Time to hit the ice cream too I guess.

  7. What about regular things? Spending time with family, going out with friends, spending time with your nephews and nieces, shopping (yes even guys do this!) etc...

So sarky - ice cream doesn't work by the way. Try chocolate mini eggs..yum!

  9. Ha go figure! Note to self, must buy ice cream hehe

Seriously, visualise those less fortunate than you. It always works for me. When I feel like I can't pray, I start doing other things like reading about the basics of Islam etc to keep me going. Oh and I listen to Maher Zain A LOT:) His lyrics makes sense.

Write to yourself about everything and anything. Not for the blog. Then rip it up when you're ready. It's kind of a release thing. Sorry these are all girly things but they do work.

  10. The thinking of the less fortunate is always an eye opener. There's only one maher zain track but it's about marriage which depressing, so that's off the list! lol

I will give the writing thing a try insha'allah.
